{KIM JACOBSON
I can't stand it
THE BASICS!

FULL NAME: Kimball Jacobson
NICKNAMES: Kim
AGE: 30
HOMETOWN: Alderley Edge, England
APPEARANCE!
I want to be myself

At 6' and roughly 165lbs, Kim is an unremarkable specimen. Though decently handsome, there's a weaselish, almost sinister cast to his features that can put people off (read: he has been told he has a face made for punching more than a few times). His limbs, neck and fingers are long, a bit too long, and can make him appear like he's stuck in adolescence. He's rigorous about his personal hygiene and seeing him with a five o'clock shadow is a sign that something is very, very wrong in his world. Kim is a bit on the pale side, but to be fair it's hard to get a healthy glow when one lives in Scotland.

By no means stylish, Kim is a very precise dresser. He's the type to iron his t-shirts and hang them in order of when he plans on wearing them. Oxford shirts, cardigans, chinos, the occasional pair of jeans for the weekend make up his sartorial repertoire. He usually looks like he fell out of an ad for a department store: bland, tidy, and more than a little fake.

His voice is reedy and a bit high, though it vaults into shrill territory when he's stressed. He's worked hard to erase his accent, something his brother mercilessly teases him about, but again, it comes out when his nerves are frayed. Most of the time, he sounds like he's reading the evening news.
PERSONALITY!
but I am somebody else

Kim is a prickly person with a good heart. He's easily annoyed and excessively critical, which can in turn make him annoying to others. His penchant for peevishness comes from an underlying desire to take care of everyone around him. Kim is aggressively conscientious. If he notices that someone favors a certain kind of cereal, he'll go on an early morning shopping trip to make sure it's ready and waiting for them when they awaken. With access to the tenant supply orders, he knows much more about others than they know about him and he will use that knowledge to help his housemates in small, sneaky ways. Most people don't appreciate his help, which is something Kim can't grasp. If someone bothered to wade through his shopping lists, he'd be flattered. Though he does genuinely enjoy helping people, he expects a favor for a favor; everyone he knows has a tab in his head and, should he feel they've taken advantage of him, he'll snap from being tensely polite to full-blown disdainful.

It would be wrong to say that once you break through his thoroughly unpleasant, prematurely elderly exterior, he's a lovely person. More accurately, some people get used to Kim's prickliness and come to see the good beneath. He's incredibly sentimental- the type to keep every letter and card that was ever sent to him. He's also empathetic, though he's terrible at comforting others. And with his attentiveness comes a tendency to feel affection for people who don't really know him. Again, it's a tad creepy, but he's far too polite to act on feelings he isn't certain are reciprocated.

Personality Keywords: Meticulous, attentive, neurotic, generally sociable, pompous, sentimental, stubborn, pessimistic, pedantic, nosy, ridiculous.
HISTORY!
the dream, the drive or the pedigree

Mother: Francine Simms (61).
Father: Alexander Jacobson (67).
Siblings: Evelyn Jacobson (35), brother; Ian Jacobson (30), brother; Harper Jacobson (26), sister.
Other: Karina [insert last name here] (27), fiancée.

Francine Simms was born the heiress to an international pharmaceutical corporation. She always took her duties very seriously- she went to university to study business and pharmacology. Despite expectations, she married early and had her first son while still studying. It seemed like nothing would slow her down. Her husband, a prospective author, stayed home with their son. When Fran grew pregnant once more, he assured her that he could handle the day in and day out grind of caring for another child. All she had to do was have the baby they would love so dearly. And then she blessed her family with twice as much love. Ian Jacobson and Kimball Jacobson were born within hours of one another.

Their father did his best to tend to his three boys, but what they say of the middle child is often true. Ian was pushed to the side and Kim was treasured. His baby of the family status led him to become the tattletale as well. If either of his brothers stepped out of line, Kim went running to his parents. For his trouble, his parents would thank him for his honesty and let him watch an extra thirty minutes of television. For his trouble, his brothers would lock him in a closet and watch TV instead. He never learned to keep quiet about his brothers' indiscretions. It wouldn't be fair. Rules were put in place for a reason, after all, and if he had to follow them, so did everyone else. His father found Kim's staunchness cute in his early years, but as he grew older, he started to wonder if perhaps they hadn't gone wrong somewhere with him.

Kim did well in school and sat English in college, continuing on to a Library Sciences program in university. His siblings kept on teasing him, of course. What a perfect career for the little narc- a librarian. However, his eldest brother became more sympathetic when their mother started grooming him to take over the company. Evelyn was to be CEO, and frankly Kim was relieved to hear it. His twin brother, a fuck up through and through in Kim's mind, would've run the company into the ground. And he certainly didn't want all that responsibility. The only viable alternative to Evelyn taking over was Harper and, truth be told, she frightened the living Christ out of him.

With his place, or lack thereof, in the family business secured, Kim went on to work for an art dealer in London. It was there he met his future fiancée, Karina. Cliched as it might sound, she was everything he was not. A painter and a creative type, she laughed off life's inconveniences while Kim dwelt on them. She was the glass half full to his half empty. They've been living together for a good six years now and, though he proposed fairly early into their relationship, they've yet to set a date. What's the rush, after all? Neither of them is going anywhere.

Except Kim. His mother called him in for a favor, a very specific, secretive favor. He was to look after one of her investments while she was otherwise indisposed. She explained it was of an administrative, financial nature. That he was just the one for the job. Kim was wary at first, but he agreed. When she later explained that he would be placed in a house in Scotland filled with monsters, he googled 'involuntary commitment'. Still, he was too devoted to his mother to do anything but humor her.

Now that he's moved into the house and realized that his mother hasn't gone out of her mind, Kim feels obligated to do his familial duty. As his mother is a prime investor in PRI, he must keep track of where their money goes. If that means enduring the company of ogres and hill witches, so be it.
